About

Tazapay is a Singapore-based payments platform that enables secure B2B payments across borders. Focuses on emerging markets where traditional payment rails are slow, costly, or fragmented, it offers businesses a global network of currencies and payment methods to collect and send money.

Challenge

As the founding designer at Tazapay, I worked across product, operations, and marketing to shape the design backbone of a fast-growing cross-border payments startup. In Tazapay, I wore many hats, including end-to-end product design across customer facing interfaces, internal operations, and marketing touchpoints.

As an early-stage fintech startup with no established product or design foundations, I was tasked with shaping the platform in an environment of high ambiguity. Over four years, my work evolved through three major phases in Tazapay’s growth:

Reflecting on my 4 years in Tazapay, it was an exhilarating learning experience building the plane while flying it.

It was a huge challenge trying to understand the fintech space while fully embracing the ambiguity of being in a startup. Coming from a UX-focused background, stepping into a founding designer role meant growing my visual design skills while leading a distributed team through constant ambiguity.

As I look back, I am incredibly thankful for the trust from the team and the opportunity to grow into a more well-rounded, resilient designer — one who could navigate complexity, raise the bar, and shape clarity where there was none.
